Located next to the Welcome Center, the Marietta Museum of History offers an exhibit featuring the Native Americans who inhabited this region. Now, according to legend, it houses as many as 700 ghosts.

Walking tours of Marietta Square feature the history, food, or haunted locations. Historic tours include information beyond the Civil War. The food tours last about three hours and explore the restaurants offering choices ranging from Southern to international cuisines. The after-dark ghost tours visit buildings, cemeteries, and streets in the area.

The fully restored William Root House, built in 1845, is the oldest house in downtown Marietta. The displays feature life as it was at the time of the Root family. The grounds include a cookhouse with a stove from the period. William Root was a pharmacist. So, as expected, the garden includes vegetables and medicinal herbs.
